Point Blanc FAQ

Aight, its been almost 8 months since I made a comeback to the entertainment scene and the eyes of the public. In these past months, I had loads of questions and comments thrown at me. SO I decided to compile most of the ones that are the most common and address them here. Let the Point Blanc FAQ roll:

1) Is Point Blanc from Ipoh? (Yes, I get that sometimes)
Yes, he is or it wouldn't be fair for him to write about a song that means "From Ipoh".

2)Is there really an Ipoh Garden Eastside or is it just some wannabe gangsta rap line?
Yes, there is an Ipoh Ganden East (and a South too). For hip hop and creative writing purposes, I decided to add the "side" to east just to get the attention it did.lol.

3)Why is Point Blanc's hair blonde/colourful?. Look so jeng, ah beng , ah pek, etc...Rappers are suppose to be bald or dreaded like the African Americans.
Once again, I am out to prove a point that you do not have to FULLY emulate African Americans to be "hip hop". Mix it a bit and make it your own. Which is what I wanted to do with my image recently, I wanted to be the keep it real Chinese emcee. And the Chinese "Ah beng " stereotype can be cool too if styled properly. Once again its a keep your mind open kinda mentality. Don't put so many barriers on music or image. Have fun. Fuck what other ppl say:)

4)Are those Point's REAL parents in the music video and CD for the Ipohmali intro?
Yes they are. Michael & Gladys Ong. Love them to death.

5)Did they really say all those things back in the day when Point wanted to be a rap star in KL?
Other then the gynaecologist @##$% line which was written in for some humour, yes, that scenario was almost identical to the real situation 12 years ago.

6)Why did you do your album in 3 languages?
Cos' I can. lol.

7) Who are Voyeur Records?
So far we are:-
Point Blanc:- CEO, Artiste, Songwriter, Producer
Bie:- Business Director, Second in command, Point's personal manager/advisor
Uncle Real:- Songwriter, Artiste, Creative Head
MajoR R.E.:- Producer, Beatmaker, Songwriter, Humble & Great dude!
Tasha:-Publicist, Special adviser to Point, Point's boo
Excaliber aka Teoh Chuin Wah:- A&R Exec, Event Coordinator, Streeteam General, Resident Comedian and loyal dude!
IVI:- Honourary Vrec teamster

8) Are you still with Poetic Ammo?
Yes, I am. Ammo is in hybernation mode at the moment but we might return with a bang! Me and Yogi are concentrating on our solo careers at the moment. AMMO 4 life!

9) Whats next for Point Blanc?
Well, Point and the Vrec crew will be working hard to promote "Straight to the Point" and this will include, press, media and publicity rounds, shows and an upcoming nationwide tour. Keep a lookout on my blog and official website for the latest news!

10)Why the name Point Blanc?
Cos' Nicholas Ong ain't cool as a rap name:P. I'm a straight to the Point kinda dude. What u see is what u get, no bullshit and ass kissing. Hence, Point Blanc (spelled with a C instead of K for coolness factor.

There you go:) U liked this post?maybe i'll do a Pt2...send in your FAQs:)

Point on Chinese radio AT LAST!

Remember when I first urged ppl to vote for "Ipohmali" months ago before it became a hit? Remember the excitement when as a collective force WE ALL made it the no 1 local English hit that it is? Thx to all for that.

I need that support again. This time for local Chinese radio. Here's the deal. My music is considered not a norm for their usual pop/ballad playlist. But they are cool enough to support it at last by putting "Monay, Monay" Chinese version on their playlist. But so far, rotation has been low.

So I'm urging all my streeteam, fans, friends & family to do the following to make them play Point Blanc more. Lets shakeup local Chinese radio together with some real local hip hop! Here's what you can do:-

Phone
Call 03-95438888 (hotline) and follow directions to get to My.FM Programming Dept. Once you get through keep bugging them to play "Monay Monay" from Point Blanc. A bit of a tedious process, but very effective nevertherless.

Fax
If you happen to have a fax machine, spam fax the hell outta them! Ask them to play "Monay Monay" from Point Blanc!Attention it to My.FM and fax to:
03-95439911

Web
Remember the E-pass thingy y'all had to register to vote for "Ipohmali" on Hitz? You can use that now to log in to the MY.fm webpage and send comments to the feedback section and ask them to play "Monay, Monay" by Point Blanc!!!
Here are the links:-

http://www.my.com.my/05/footer/feedback.asp?

Alrite guys, meanwhile keep an ear out on My.fm (101.8 in KL) for "Monay, Monay"....
Thx for the support y'all!

Point Blanc on Channel V's AMP

Ok, I'm a little late on this but I just setup my AMP page. Its basically a Channel V version of Myspace but they have a whole regional TV station supporting it.

TO all my fans, friends and family, please head over to my official AMP page now and bookmark it:

http://amp.channelv.com/pointblanc

They have a chart in there that is calculated by the amount of "plays" for an artiste's song. So please go in there regularly and play my songs and push it up the charts. The charts are reported on Channev V (channel 72 on Astro) on a daily basis so let's get Point Blanc up there.

So go check it out guys!!! More posts coming soon!

Canon supports Point!

Sometimes it pays to have 20 thousand plus peeps checkout your blog. The good folks at Canon started to pay attention and decided to support me with gear so I can blog even better. Every decent blogger needs a good digital camera for stills and a digital video camera for vids.

I couldn't be happier with my new sponsored Canon products really. I mean the brand has always been associated with great quality and performance and it really lives up to the hype. I got blessed with the awesome Ixus 900 Ti for my pics & the HV10 for videos.

These 2 products will be part of me constantly in my daily life to document everything from my road tours, performances, random pics, events, recording sessions, etc....

I have only had these 2 cool cams for a little over a week, and I must admit I'm already in love with em'. I don't leave home with at least one of them and most of the time during my recent trips and shows; they travel with my whole Voyeur Records team.

I decided to dabble in a lil' product reviewing and here are my personal opinions and reviews on these 2 great Canon products:-

IXUS 900Ti

One word, well actually two! Titanium & 10.0 Megapixels!!! It doesn't get any better than this! With the same metal Robocop is made of and picture quality that puts most other cameras (especially your so called 3.2 megapixel cameraphone) to shame, this digital camera is total coolness.
As part of the IXUS line, its slick design and slim build makes it so nice to hold in your hands. The super huge display screen is crisp and bright. Another plus is the battery life, as I did not need to charge it for days even though I used it quite frequently.

Picture quality is awesome as with any Canon cameras, and you always have the option to take pics with lower resolution to save space on your SD card. Both outdoor and indoor pics look great and I must admit the video shooting function has the best looking videos captured on a digital camera I have ever seen. No kidding. Point tak bias.

With a host of features which I have yet to learn in it coupled with a very user friendly navigation system, the Ixus 900Ti is definitely a great high end consumer level product. I highly recommend it along with the other IXUS line if you are planning to purchase a new digital camera.

HV10

Its 2007! You say camcorder, you gotta say HIGH DEFINITION after that or you're so yesterday. High Definition or HD for short is the new standard for most digital camcorders these days. Canon's HV10 was one of the first camcorders to offer HD to a consumer level.

What excited me with this model is that it uses mini DV rather than the recent influx of DVD camcorders. Sure DVD is cool if 'ur shooting home movies or just stuff for your own pleasure. I needed my camcorder to perform on an industry standard level. And so far, the industry standard for most video work is still the ever functional mini DV format. Production houses still edit with the format and personally I still like keeping my shots on tapes:)

The HD10 is so well built and the size is unbelievable. Very small indeed and very easy to hold on one hand. The video quality is really clear and crisp (once again cos'its Canon) and you have the option to shoot in normal DV mode as well. The camcorder also comes with a night light which lets you capture videos in darker environments. The standard ports like DV and AV are in it for your transferring purposes and it even has a USB port to transfer your still pics.

The still camera function lets you take 3.2 megapixel stills and also spots the optical image stabilizer function which means no more blurry pics:) Battery life is decent depending on how many functions you use at a time. The display screen is clear and is shaped in widescreen format so you can frame your shots better.

I love this cam and have so much plans to do a lot with it. Watch out for some of my upcoming music videos being shot with the HV10 Go get yours too!

And thats it! My reviews on my new darlings. If you see me in a show or something, holla at me to get your pic taken with any of these 2 products:) Canon totally ROCKS!!!and Point tak bias:P Please post comments on your experiences and views on Canon products!

Point on RAGE mag

Its all the RAGE now, I got loads of smses on Monday when the college distributed magazine RAGE had me on it. I haven't seen the hardcopy yet but here is the online version and link:-

http://www.rage.com.my/writeups/story.asp?file=/2007/7/2/mustread/20070702095505&sec=mustread

http://rage.com.my/writeups/story.asp?file=/2007/7/2/mustread/20070702102550&sec=mustread

I however was misquoted slightly in the interview. I am no longer with Pop Shuvit and was the founding member of the band. I did not happily "joined" them.hahah.

I will update this post with scanned hardcopies when I get em.
